GATE Counselling Procedure

GATE 2017 Counselling Procedure- GATE 2017 is just an entrance exam whose scores are used for the Counselling by many universities, institutes including the IITs for their M.Tch admissions. Candidates must be aware that the GATE 2017 Counselling will be held separately and individually by each of the institutions offering admissions on the basis of GATE 2015 Scores to their M.Tech programmes. Candidates who have qualified in GATE 2017 have to apply separately to the individual institutes/ universities of their choice on the basis of their GATE scores. GATE 2017 Counselling will be conducted by most of the universities and state wise institutions on the basis of the GATE 2017 scores. ·         Generally M.Tech Admissions 2017 will be dependent on the GATE 2017 scores as well as the performance of the candidate in the qualifying graduate exam in the ratio 70 : 30.

·         Candidates are mostly required to appear for an interview if they are eligible for admissions on the basis of their GATE 2017Scores.

·         Sometimes they may even have to attend a departmental test.

·         M.Tech Admission 2017 criteria will vary from institute to institute.

M.Tech Admissions on the basis of GATE 2017:

·         Candidates who qualify in GATE 2017 will not be assured of a seat unless they apply to the institute of their preference.

·         All the universities and institutes including the IITs, IIITs will issue a notification for the M.Tech Admissions 2017 listing the Eligibility Criteria including the GATE 2017 Qualification Criteria.

·         Candidates who are eligible on the basis of their GATE Scores and the specified criteria must apply as per the specified procedure of each of the university or institute they are interested in

·         M.Tech Admissions to the NITs though will be through a common counseling under the CCMT 2017. The CCMT 2017 will tentatively be announced.in April 2017. Keep checking our website for the details.

Exemption for GATE qualified Candidates:

·         Most of the PG State Entrance exams like the AP PGECET 2017, Karnataka PGCET 2017, TANCET 2017 etc allow for exemption from the entrance exam for all the GATE qualified candidates.

·         Admissions in such cases specify the GATE 2017 cut off marks and candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria are called for counselling if they apply for the admissions.

Start of GATE 2017 Counselling Process:

·         The M.Tech Admissions 2017 will start after the announcement of the GATE 2017 Result. Candidates may note that the GATE 2017 Result will be declared on March 27, 2017

·         Candidates who are GATE 2017 qualified must apply to the institutes of their choice for the M.Tech courses of the choice after the notification for the same is announced

·         Candidates who are shortlisted on the basis of their GATE 2017 Scores will be called for the Counselling and thereafter admissions to the specific M.Tech programmes will be announced.

GATE 2017 Counselling Institute wise/ University wise: Candidates will have to regularly check for the M.Tech Admissions 2017 notifications in order to apply for the Counselling based on their GATE 2017 Result.
