The reservation system in IES 2014 is usually for the students who belongs to the category of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), other backward classes (OBC) and also for Females. Reservation generally means that certain percentage of seats is reserved for particular sections of the society. It sometimes also referred to relaxation of the percentage of marks in educational requirements, relaxation in age limits or relaxation in the fee also. The reservation system of IES 2014 is based on the Indian Govt. policy. The reservation only increase the chances of getting seats for under privileged sections but not ensures 100% chances of getting admissions.  Admissions truly based on the basis of talent whatever you have. There is no reservation of minorities in the IES 2014.

Candidates belong of SC, ST or OBC can have following privileges in Indian Engineering Services 2014 Examination:

  • Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Female candidates do not required to pay the application form fee. However, other backward classes and General category will have to pay INR 200/- as application fee.
  • The age limit for IES 2014 is 30 years but it will be 35 in case if you are a Govt. servant and working in any of the following categories or Departments:
  1. Central Electricity Authority
  2. The corps of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, Ministry of Defence
  3. Railway Department
  4. Central Water Commission
  5. Boarder Roads Organization
  6. Ministry of Road, Transport & Highways
  7. Directorate General Ordnance Factories
  8. Central Public Work Department
  9. Indian Navy
  10. Department of Telecom
  11. Military Engineer Services
  12. Wireless planning and coordination wing/ Monitoring Organization
  13. Directorate General of Supply and Disposal
  • Maximum of 5 years of relaxation in upper age limit for the candidates belongs to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST).
  • Maximum of 3 years of relaxation in the upper age limit for the candidates belongs to other backward class (OBC) in relation to IES 2014 reservation.
  • Maximum of 10 years of relaxation in the upper age limit for the candidates to those who are deaf mute and orthopedically handicapped.
  • Maximum of 3 years of relaxation in the upper age limit for the candidates belongs to other backward class (OBC) in relation to IES 2014 reservation.
