UPSC was come into existence on 1ST Oct. 1926 under the guidelines provided by the Govt. of India. 1. About Engineering Services Examination (IES)

It is an exam held on All India Level conducted by UPSC that fill up the requirements for technical and managerial functions of the Govt. of India. This competitive exam has four competitive stages from which every student has to appear and clear. Once the students clear the exams they are eligible for the recruitment in the various sectors in Indian engineering Services.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students appearing should be citizens of India.
  • In order to appear for IES students need to be engineering graduate i.e. B.E or B. Tech from a recognized university.
  • The student should be minimum of 21 years of age and maximum of 30 years as on 1st August. Relaxation of age of up to 3 years is also there for OBC candidates and five years for the students who belong to SC or ST.
  • A student can attempt for four times for IES exams for General candidates while OBC can attempt for seven times and SC or ST can attempt for it for unlimited times.

2. Combined Defense Services Examination (CDSE)

Combined Defense Service Exam is conducted two times a year by UPSC for the recruitment in Indian Military, Officers training Academy, Naval Academy and Indian Air force.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students appearing should be citizens of India.
  • For exams of Military Academy and Officers training Academy students should hold degree from recognized university or equivalent.
  • For appearing in Naval Academy exams students should completed B.SC with Physics and Mathematics or Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • For appearing in Air Force Academy students should possess a degree with Physics and Mathematics in 10+2 or Bachelor degree in engineering or Bachelor of Technology or equivalent.

Age:

• Indian Military Academy: 19-24 Years

• Air Force Academy: 19-23 Years

• Naval Academy: 19-22 Years

• Officers’ Training Academy: 19-25 Year

3. Special Class Railway Apprentices (SCRA)

Special Class Railway Apprentices (SCRA) is an exam held on All India Level conducted by UPSC that fill up the gap in Indian Railways for mechanical and technical requirements.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students appearing should be citizens of India.
  • 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics or appearing in 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics are also eligible to apply.
  • Bachelor degree with Mathematics also eligible for the exam.
  • Minimum of 17 years and maximum of 21 years.

4. Civil Services Examinations

Civil Services Examination is an exam held on All India Level conducted by UPSC that fill up the requirements for Indian Revenue Service (IRS), Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students appearing should be citizens of India.
  • Candidates should hold bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of 21 years and maximum of 30 years is the age requirement for general category. OBC do have relaxation of age for maximum of three years while SC or ST has relaxation of five years age.
  • A student can attempt for four times for Civil Services Examination for General candidates while OBC can attempt for seven times and SC or ST can attempt for it for unlimited times.
