IES or Indian engineering services is one of the most reputed services in India and not everyone is eligible to enter into such services of India. Only qualified and capable person would be eligible to join such services in India. The selection criteria for IES is depend on two-step procedure that’s involved written test which will be held on 20th June 2014 and other step is the personal interview round. Only candidates that have cleared the written exams will be call for interview round after they have been shortlisted. The written exam for IES held only once a year. IES 2014 selection procedure can shortlist the candidates in the following categories:
- Electrical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering

A) Written Test or Examination: The written test for IES 2014 exams will be held on 20th June 2014 and the application form will be available from 15th March, 2014 till 14th April 2014. The registration process for the exam is online but the payment can be made both through online and offline modes. The written test consists of two papers. 1st paper is of English and General Awareness and is compulsory in nature. The 2nd paper is optional one and every student has to choose one option from civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics and telecommunication engineering. These papers are known as conventional papers in which the section 1st will have objective type of questions. In IES 2014 exams, there will be negative marking for every incorrect answer.
B) Personal Interview Round: The other method involved in the selection process for IES 2014 would include the personal interview round. The interview will be conducted by the IES officials. The students who cleared the written exams will be called for the personal interview round. All the shortlisted candidates for interview will have to submit the essential documents for verification that they have cleared the exam. The personal interview round would consist of 200 marks and the candidates have to face the team of IES officials who are learned and highly qualified in this field. They would ask the questions that determine the student’s capability on different parameters.
Once the Interview round cleared, the students will be allotted positions in the categories mentioned above. The students are required to submit the following documents for the purpose of verification:
- Birth Certificate
- Class 10th and 12th Mark sheets.
- Address verification document such as election card or driving license.
- Call letter/ Admit card of Personal interview round.
- Certificate of eligibility.
